Our local network of Teacher Librarians, Technicians and Assistants reconvened as a SLAQ Subcommittee in 2009.  We hosted our first PD at St Joseph's College Toowoomba on May 15, with about 20 people in attendance. Cathy and John Oxley presented a Web 2.5 seminar, inspiring many of us to become more involved in cyberactivity!

Meetings in 2010 have provided a time for professional sharing and discussion.  We were pleased to welcome Sally Fraser and Chris Kahl to our March meeting at Glennie Junior Years, and Chris Mann from Symons Educational provided attendees with free sample bags.  At our April meeting Sheryl Morris (Centenary Heights HS) presented an inspirational session on Book Trailers.  This will motivate some of us to follow-up with our students, in preparation for the Toowoomba City Library's Book Trailer competition later in the year.  Judy Short (Darling Heights SS) represented our Subcommittee at the recent meeting of Presidents and Councillors. At our May meeting Marie Miegel from Glennie Junior Years shared about the Somerset Conference for Teachers and Librarians.
