Venue -- Moving beyond - decisions and surprises?: School libraries, learning and teaching

St Patrick's CollegeMackay is in north central Queensland on the banks of the Pioneer River, offset by the Cumberland and Whitsunday island groups and Eungella Range. The major industries are coal, sugar and beef cattle. The climate is tropical and the average temperature in September is 28 C.

Distances: Rockhampton - 3.5 hours south by road and Townsville is 4 hours north by road. Brisbane is a 10-11 hour drive and Cairns 8 hours. Mackay has regular air (Brisbane - 1 hr 40 mins, Rockhampton - 40 mins, Townsville - 50 mins) and rail services. The marina at the harbour provides excellent facilities.

The venue: St Patrick’s Senior College is in the CBD on the corner of Gregory, River and Macalister Streets. It has a range of facilities available. All day parking is available in council car parks and in nearby streets (as sign posted).
